My Students

My kindergarten students are bright and eager to learn.

My students work hard each day on reading, writing and developing number sense, but what they love most of all is learning through play.

My classroom is made up of 23 bright, inquisitive, and creative five, six, and seven-year-olds.

Our school is located in a suburban community with strong parent and community support. Even though they are the youngest learners in our school, my students have big hearts and are kind and compassionate. My students are very eager to learn about the world around them.

My Project

Loose parts can be natural objects, found materials, or beautiful pieces and materials, which provide children with endless opportunities to build on their play. Loose parts offer children opportunities to create and expand their play skills.

Children enjoy exploring and playing in their environment by manipulating and creating experiences with the materials they have access to.

It is beneficial for early childhood educators to use loose parts and open-ended materials in their classrooms because loose parts provide many opportunities for children to be curious, creative and make meaning of the natural world around them. In my classroom, students use loose parts to count, build numbers and letters, and create stories.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
