My Students
My high school students are enthusiastic, motivated, dedicated, hardworking and above all, very curious learners. They are very interested in learning biology, the science of life.
We are a high performing school, where every student strives to achieve their highest potential and become a citizen with strong science-based skills—not only in specific content areas but also with skills such as critical thinking and inquiry-based problem solving.
My goal for my students is to help them attain their academic goals, their science-based skills, be good citizens and inspire them to be lifelong learners.
My Project
Currently, we create 1-page summary notes in Biology for every unit we learn. Notes in Biology also include hand-drawn diagrams with labels and annotations. The Apple iPad Pro and Pencil will be used by my students to create these drawings and notes digitally. The Apple Pencil enables students to annotate, draw diagrams, create art, design experiments, brainstorm ideas and collaborate together all while using technology!
The iPad Pro and Pencil and will allow my students to use technology designed specifically for them to create and learn Biology.
My students will be able to use the Apple Pencil to mark up, highlight, add annotations, create drawings, labeled-diagrams, flow-charts, and concept maps. Students will be able to use the iPad to explore ideas, learn, and get creative digitally. I could also use the iPad and Pencil to enhance my teaching through digital diagrams instead of drawings on the whiteboard which can be saved and accessed by my students at a later time.
Students will also be able to use the iPad for educational games and apps for learning. They would be able to experience the augmented reality (AR) technology apps which offer fantastically immersive and fluid experiences that go far beyond the screen. By taking advantage of the latest in virtual technology, students could explore the inside of a cell without a microscope or an anatomy of an organism without dissection, or even walk with dinosaurs. The possibilities are endless.
