My school serves children of all abilities and supports their families through the Head Start program. It is a part of a large, urban school district. My school is considered high poverty; yet, it has high expectations for everyone!
Currently, my students are learning at home due to the school building being closed for the rest of the school year.
My school is fortunate to be able to borrow Chromebooks for our families. I am now completing lessons and activities online for my students.
My preschool students are curious and inquisitive; they are excited about what they will learn! They learn best when using visually engaging, hands-on activities where they can work together.
My Project
The materials in this project include detailed, vibrant flannel story pieces that I can use to read many familiar early childhood stories and rhymes. It includes The Three Little Pigs, The Little Red Hen, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and The Little Engine That Could. It also includes a bold and bright counting set and an alphabet set for teaching early math and reading skills. In addition, the double-sided felt/dry-erase board will allow me to tell the children stories on one side and write out learning goals on the opposite side.
My young students will enjoy listening, and joining in, to the stories on the felt board as they learn rhyming, vocabulary, speaking, and listening skills.
The flannel learning materials are visually engaging and easy to see while the children are studying on a computer or tablet. When we all return to school, the children will use the materials to re-tell the stories with their classmates and continue learning math and reading skills.
