What teacher doesn't want to instill a love of reading in their students? Our class is comprised of energetic, thoughtful, creative students who love to learn. They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! With that in mind, the opportunity to move around with flexible seating, seems like a great way to continue their love of reading and writing. My students come to school each day ready to try new things. Why not give them more opportunities to be creative!
With flexible seating, each student would get the opportunity to feel at ease when they pick up a new book, or begin working on an assignment with a peer.
Our class is full of collaboration, exploring new concepts, and trying new strategies. The goal in our ELA class is to keep my students eager to learn as they transition to middle school and beyond. Eager learners grow into successful adults!
My Project
Students love to make choices, especially mine! The students sit in the same desks every day, and in every class. Wouldn't flexible seating be a great alternative for them to choose the spot that they feel the most comfortable while completing their work? With this project, my classroom would provide my students with various ways they could complete their work. From sitting at a high desk on a stool, to bringing a bean bag to the window while enjoying some sun and fresh air; students could have their pick! Some might even want to use a swivel chair at our existing kidney table, or pull up a stool near the book shelf. Studies show that students are more motivated to complete their work when they feel comfortable in their environment. Students deserve choice!
