Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom is comprised of approximately 25 Kindergarten students who come from predominantly low income households. We are located in West Miami Dade and are a Title I school. Most of my students have not had the opportunity to attend day care and are in school for the first time. They are energetic and ready to learn and are eager to connect what we have learned to hands on activities.
Being able to provide them with engaging lessons using manipulatives, technology and art supplies would only enhance their educational experience!
I want to provide my students with a positive and nurturing classroom environment where they can thrive in school and in their community.
My Project
The items donated will immediatly make a positive impact on my classroom environment. The carpet will give my students a cozy spot to have our morning meetings as well as our daily read alouds. Students love getting close and comfortable while I read some of their favorite books.
Students also go through various centers throughout the day.
Having a storage cubby where I can store and manage hands on critical thinking items will not only increase students level of engagement but also put a smile on their face. Being able to incorporate a mobile chart stand to my teacher center will give me the ability to rotate through the room to work with my student groups while minimizing my transition time and maximizing instruction.
Many of my students are also not able to bring thier own supplies so having a class pack of crayons, journals and pencils helps facilitate the learning process without having any added pressures put on students and parents.
