My Project

When students who are experiencing strong emotions, sometimes have a hard time explaining to adults how they feel. These emotions may sometimes lead to behavior that is distracting or disruptive in the classroom which can negatively impact the learning environment. One way to help students work through these emotions is through arts and crafts, such as painting or making sand art.

How do arts and crafts help students?

I have found that when students are focused on something other than their strong emotions, they are better able to talk about what they are feeling. Even if they are not able to find the words, their emotions often come out in being creative.

Students today are struggling with basic social skills. Working on something artistic helps students work as a team to create a project everyone can be proud of.
