So many skills are built when children engage in a variety of arts. Fine motor skills, cognitive thinking, and math skills are inherent elements of creating. Literacy skills are built as children share their art with teachers and peers and explain their creations and the choices they made.
A variety of mediums allow students to express themselves and engage in art processes in both conventional and unconventional ways. An array of paints and brushes, different types of paper, pallets and droppers, pom poms and feathers seem simple in a list, but in the hands of a child they become tools of wonder! In early childhood and beyond, the process is far more important than the product.
