My Students

Our school is a Montessori program that strives to educate the whole child and meet a variety of needs so students feel safe and capable to take on tasks of all sizes. Every child has gifts, talents, and strengths; yet most schools only focus on their deficits. The students in my school often struggle to see themselves as successful, contributing community members. We are working toward guiding our students to see themselves as positive, productive citizens who can achieve their dreams. At our school, we are trying to think outside of the box in order to best support them on whatever path they take.

My school has 200 diverse, urban students who face challenges in the outside world that often impact their classroom experience.

My Project

Our school uses a positive behavior approach where students can earn Puma Paws for following school-wide expectations. Students can save up their Puma Paws to "buy" rewards. I would love to use this machine to spark creativity in our students and provide them the opportunity to design and make items as a reward for helping create a positive school climate.

Cricut crafts are easy for kids to make and give them a sense of pride in their products!

It is often hard to find "free" rewards for kids that they want to earn. By owning a Cricut machine, it will make it easier and more possible for students to create items that they are excited about and willing to work hard for!
