Creative Coding with LEGO WeDo 2.0 and Ozobots

My Students

Innovative, creative, and hardworking are just a few of the words I would use to describe my students. They are the reason I can't wait to get to school every day! They challenge me just as often as I challenge them.

We are a Title I school in rural Florida, and while we don't have Disney World, we do have magic happening in our classrooms every day.

We are also a STEAM Innovate Learning Lab. That is a mouthful, but it describes an amazing change in classroom instruction. In our room, we use collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity throughout our day. The kids are taking ownership of their education and the results are phenomenal. We are thinking about and preparing for our future in third grade.

My Project

Kids need to learn to code for so many reasons. They can use this knowledge to secure better opportunities in college, internships, and careers. Learning to code also improves creativity, collaboration, communication, and grit. Not to mention, coding is fun! With Ozobots and WeDo 2.0, my students will be able to learn how to code in a fun and challenging way. They will be able to use these items to create pathways and complete missions collaboratively in their teams. They will also be able to build staging areas for their robots using the building bricks.

Kids love to get their hands on technology so why not use that to our advantage? With these hands-on coding systems, my students will have a blast challenging themselves and each other to bring coding to life.
