This novel not only served as an excellent vehicle for teaching challenging grade-level standards but also fostered deep, meaningful conversations about empathy and friendship among my students. The enthusiasm for this book was universal, with students eagerly anticipating each reading session.\r\n\r\nMy novel study approach involves a read-aloud format, where I typically cover five chapters at a time while students follow along. Students then work in their small groups where their discussions focus on critical literary elements such as character development, plot analysis, theme identification, figurative language, and context clues. These discussions culminate in a whole-class discussions, which consistently proves to be a transformative experience. The depth of insight and unique perspectives offered by the students never cease to amaze me, often providing me with new learning opportunities as well.\r\n\r\nThe Wild Robot allowed us to address nearly every standard in our curriculum while also incorporating engaging STEAM activities. For instance, students crafted a representation of Roz, the protagonist, using notecards and designed camouflage for various environments. They also constructed a leg for Roz using clay and sticks, mirroring scenarios from the book. These hands-on activities not only reinforced the story's themes but also encouraged creativity and problem-solving skills.\r\n\r\nAmong the several novels we explore each year, The Wild Robot has quickly emerged as the favorite for most of the class. Its ability to captivate and inspire every student is truly remarkable.\r\n\r\nYour generous support has been instrumental in making learning both enjoyable and exciting for my students. By providing access to such high-quality literature and associated learning materials, you have significantly enhanced our classroom experience and contributed to the academic and personal growth of these young learners.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your invaluable contribution to our educational journey.","fullyFundedDate":1728166801087,"projectUrl":"project/go-wild-for-the-wild-robot/8807056/","projectTitle":"Go Wild for The Wild Robot!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. DeLange","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9768875_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726799842125","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9768875"},{"teacherId":7312951,"projectId":8807602,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support!
