I have a classroom of 18 students. My students are very diverse. A very high percentage of children in my school are from low-income families. This percentage is above 80%. My students have different hardships, but they do their best to succeed. While at school I try to create an engaging, fun, loving, and caring environment where students can learn through hands-on activities and amazing literature.
Students come to school always willing to do their best to succeed, and they love to discover the world around them.
I have wonderful students who are eager to learn and work hard. My students also learn with fun and engaging activities in every subject. I am proud of the determination and drive that my students show each day when they come into school.
My Project
In our next PBL project, students have the task to create model zoo habitats. Students will use STEM to create the habitats using math to find the area and perimeter of each habitat. Students will also graph the amount and type of food that the animals will eat. When it comes to science students will study an animal and the habitat that the animal lives in. The students will then create a model of the habitat to present to the local zoos. We will also present the models to the community and district personnel. We will show this to the public in order to show what animals need to live in the zoo. We will also give ideas to our local zoo for new exhibits. My students need paint and watercolor colored pencils in order to create backgrounds for their models. The scissors will help students create different textures in their project. The clay will be used to create the animals. Students will also use the paint to paint the animals. Glue will be used to piece the model habitat together. The popsicle sticks will help with creating the animals when it comes to structure. The magnetic paper will be used to invite guests.
With your help, my students can explore animal habitats and create a model of a habitat that they have researched to present to the public.
We expect to start our project in early April. If this project gets funded after we do our project I will save the supplies for when we create this same PBL project again the following April. I know that students will be excited to create and research. With your help, we can make it easier to access supplies for these students.
