I am a second grade teacher who loves beautiful, child created and inspired artwork. I try to provide as many opportunities as possible for my students to express themselves creatively. At the beginning of the year, I try to purchase as many markers, paints, and other art supplies as I can to last the whole year, however we usually start to run low around Christmas. I want my students to be able to "create their way" in the art center using new types of art supplies in addition to the usual markers and crayons. This would include paints, glitter, sequins, buttons, etc. that can get rather costly. I feel that art is essential. It is a means of expression as well as a way for some children, who may not be so successful in other areas, to excel.
