My Students

My students are eager to learn. They are inquisitive, thoughtful, and funny, and they look out for one another. I have a dual role as a reading teacher and the librarian for a small rural school. I work with grades K-6, and it fills my heart to watch them grow from little learners to middle schoolers.

My students look forward to learning how to read and make sense of the words on a paper, and in return, I love helping them with reading strategies and watching them decode words and develop their foundational reading skills.

Reading is one of the most important skills you need throughout life.

My Project

I am a reading teacher at a Title l school. All of my students struggle with reading. Some may be slightly behind their classmates, others may be several grade levels behind. The Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) Blue Kit is a research-based reading intervention program that has designed explicit reading instruction targeted for our lowest readers in grades 2 and 3.

Having this reading intervention program will provide new opportunities for my students to learn phonemic awareness, basic reading skills, fluency, and reading comprehension skills.

These things will undoubtedly foster success in reading development.
