Storyworks Magazine has a variety of non-fiction, fiction, drama, poetry, and paired texts for upper elementary students. It also has an online learning component, which students love! I have a dual role as a Title I reading teacher and the librarian. I want my students to read short articles together, and I will pair the Storyworks articles with related library books to inspire kids to keep reading and building knowledge on a subject or genre that interests them. The overall goal is for my students to explore a variety of topics and the desire to want to read more about their interests. The added bonus is that I can teach critical thinking skills and enrich their vocabulary knowledge at the same time in a way that is positively engaging!
