This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
The funding for this grant will be used to help support classroom experimentation. I currently teach students with disabilities in a high-poverty community. Although they live in an impoverished community, my students love science and discovering solutions to problems. The students will discover and understand how environmental factors affect our ecosystem, as well as brainstorm innovative solutions. We have a farm that was created through a CTAE connections Agricultural-based class. I would like to collaborate with the Wildcat A&T Teacher next year to build the scientific connection with agriculture and engineering to help students further understand the importance of farming and being eco-friendly. The grant lists that this kit can be utilized through "researching and discovering how acid rain, drought, saline soils, and erosion affect the growth of plants." They can design their own environmental-based, biology-based, and agricultural-based experiments.
