Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Writing has become such an integral part of the school day. Students also need opportunities to write about what is important to them, so what's better than writing their own stories? After this project is complete we will have a diverse library that represents us!
My students are an inquisitive group of second graders that are excited to learn!
My second grade classroom is located in an urban community with the vast majority of students qualifying for free or reduced lunches. We have a diverse community of students with a high number of English Language Learners. As with many California districts, our school is facing budget cuts making it difficult to provide these students with the supplies they deserve.
My Project
The composition books are great everyday writing tools. Children can journal about topics that are important to them. It is a way for children to brainstorm and formulate ideas that they later want to publish in our library. They need phonics phones and letter stamps to practice sight words and make writing more understandable.
Creative writing has taken a backseat in the world of standardized testing and Common Core.
Help my students express themselves through their words with these essential writing tools!
