Ms. Gordon from Atlanta GA is requesting musical instruments through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students keyboards and a tablet in order to use math to create music.

Schoolwide, our students face a seemingly overwhelming economic challenge, which is evidenced by the fact that our school was approved, for 100% of our population, to receive free breakfast and lunch. Several of the students live with a grandparent that isn't able to assist them.
Poverty among school-aged children is becoming increasingly concentrated in Georgia.
The rising poverty, as the proportion of students who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals, has soared. By 2007, “economically disadvantaged” students, as the state officially calls them, had become the majority in Georgia’s public schools, and by 2006 they comprised 62 percent of enrollment.
Atlanta-based Southern Education Foundation reported that 51 percent of public school students in America were from low-income households in 2013, and that Georgia had the seventh largest proportion, at 60 percent. Most of my students are qualified as economically disadvantaged and live with parents or grandparents who do not have income-based jobs.
Most children love music; therefore, I want my students to be able to enjoy something they love as well as learn. Make Music Count is a curriculum that can be used to teach my students math while creating music. This curriculum is hands-on and engaging for the students. In order for the students to use the curriculum, they need a keyboard or tablet that's able to download the app.
Being engaged also adds to the foundation of skills.
The students will learn some basic math skills and solve equations using the keyboards or tablet. One important and difficult skill that the students can learn using this curriculum is adding fractions.
Engagement enhances a student's ability to be able to focus. The more students focus, the more they will learn and retain the material. The earphones will be used to help students focus more and block out external noise while on the tablet and/or keyboard. The case will be used to help maintain the longevity of the tablet. Using math to create music is a great way to develop strong mathematicians.
