Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As part of our Media Literacy course at Vanguard students are expected to know how to access, analyze, evaluate and create various forms of media. Students will learn that some media is designed to manipulate and control people for profit or power. For our class, students will be required to create their own media in a variety of forms from bumpers stickers, blogs, pins, and photographs, to t-shirts and videos. I am asking for a variety of supplies to make all of this possible. I'm hoping for sticker style printer paper so that students can create a bumper sticker of their own design using the computer. Additionally, I'm hoping for markers in case students would prefer to write out their bumper sticker by hand. I'm also asking for iron-on printer paper so that students can create their own t-shirts. Finally, I'd love a digital camera so that students can capture images that they would like to put on their t-shirt, and so that we can document their progress and share it on the web for another project. Hopefully we will inspire some future graphic designers, artists, and photographers. Either way students will see that they can use the power of media to send a message that is important to them and their community.
