Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am requesting a classroom set of small piano keyboards to use in my music classroom. I teach in an urban elementary school with a very high population of Latino students. Many of these students don't have access to musical instruments at home, so I want to give them the opportunity to learn how to play the piano.
The students at my school are very special because they all are very excited when it comes to learning how to play an instrument, and to use the skills that they have learned in music class, such as reading music and rhythms.
They have been able to learn how to play the recorder, and a little bit of the ukulele, but adding piano skills will allow them to really practice their music reading skills.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
