As a 3rd grade teacher in a rural low income school district, my students are faced with challenges in and out of school. In addition to this, third grade is a challenging school year full of new concepts and skills. Students learn multiplication, division, how to write multi-paragraph research papers, and much more. My students come to school ready to take on new learning avenues.
My students are a diverse group of learners, eager to be challenged and taken to the next level of learning.
The students in my classroom have a desire to show their growth to the world around them. Each day they enter the classroom eager for new tasks. As their teacher I strive to create a learning environment where they are loved, challenged, and eager to learn.
My Project
I am seeking funding for additional technology in my third grade classroom. My school district serves children in a small rural farming community. Approximately 64% of our student population qualify for free and reduced lunches. Even though my students live in a rural southwest missouri town, they have many passions and want to make a difference in the world around them.
I want to challenge my students to believe they can make a difference in the lives of those around them.
For example, one of my students has a desire to raise money to start her own animal adoption center for stray animals. Another student wishes to explore ways to help endangered species. They are eager to make a difference in the world around them. Students will use the Chrome book to research and create presentations. In an attempt to further enrich their learning, they will be doing passion research projects. They will choose topics of interest, research the topic, and create a presentation to present to the class. Additional computers would allow these students the opportunity to research and create power points to further enrich their learning.
