This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students cannot wait to play instruments in music class! But the have to…because we do not have enough instruments to go around. This set of Joia tubes (pronounced "Joy-ah") will allow a wide variety of group configurations with the small percussion instruments we have and these new tubes.
I teach approximately 380 K-5th grade students in an inner-city school.
The kids are inquisitive, intelligent, and have wonderful stories to tell. Like all kids, they have amazing things to offer our community. Giving them healthy ways to grow is a goal of every teacher in our school.
My Project
Joia tubes produce a rich, resonant sound. These pitched percussion tubes give students unique ways to explore improvisation, self-exploration, and rhythm. They allow students to participate in music class in fun, exciting ways and allow students from beginner to advanced differentiated instruction. These tubes are adaptable as they are removable to be played individually or mounted and attached together to be played as a set. Joia tubes are also designed in such a way as to give children with special needs a new way to contribute and participate in music class.
With instruments that are adaptable to every level and ability I will have the opportunity to immediately get students playing music.
My special needs children will have a fun and challenging means of participating in music class. And students from every walk of life will be able to join in the fun. Help me get students creating joyful music!
