Creating Future Engineers

Help me give my students materials to create like Magna-Tiles, a bridge building kit and a building blocks to explore engineering and the creative process.

My Students

I teach 22 first graders in Northeast Dallas, TX. Our school is a melting pot of cultures, backgrounds and traditions. We have a strong community and try to push our students to be creative, confident contributors to the positive culture of our school.

My students are eager to learn, energetic and creative with everything they do.

Working with children from all different backgrounds is an eye-opening opportunity for me. I hope I reach every student in a unique and meaningful way.

My Project

Students will use Magna-Tiles, building sets and engineering games in order to explore their creativity and foster their love for building.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) are important avenues to encourage creative thinking and problem solving.

Each day my students are given time to build and design and every day they make something extraordinary. My students already make simple things like toothpicks and Play Doh come to life with their imagination. Not only does this activity allow for creative output, students often write about what they have made, which encourages the writing process. I cannot wait to see what they discover and explore with these amazing materials.
