My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions!
They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions!
They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
Our school is nestled in the heart of Salinas, CA. It is one of the agriculture capitals of the United States. About 1/3 of my students come and go throughout the school year because of their parents work.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
EiE is an excellent inquiry-based STEM curriculum for use in informal settings outside of class, teaching students thinking and reasoning skills needed for success. Built around the engineering design process, EiE teaches kids how to solve problems systematically. The Outbreak Alert: Engineering a Pandemic Response project will be a great addition to the STEM activities my students get to take part in this year!
My students will use this project to become stronger critical thinkers as well as develop their science and engineering skills.
They will hopefully realize that STEM is for all students of all backgrounds and that they can achieve anything when they try their best. I want all of my students to know that they can be successful, that STEM isn't too challenging and it can be fun!
