This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am in my first year of teaching 4th grade, and I am most excited about teaching National Parks. Our students get a free National Parks Pass to use for an entire year; this gives them the opportunity to explore all 63 parks with their families, and I want to motivate them to get out and start exploring!

March is National Parks months, and I would love to gamify my lessons to get the students extra interested in this topic.

Having the games with the National Parks twist will give them something to connect with the new topic. Being close to the Grand Canyon, which many have visited, will lock in how precious these lands are as they learn about the other national parks through books, coloring pages, and interactive trivia games. Having a sticker with their favorite national park will seal the deal for them to want to learn more. I also included pins from our lovely state 48 to award to students that have shown high proficiency in their understanding of our lovely parks!
