My students need variety since we have become a choice based art room and items such as looms, needles, pottery tools, a litebox, art paste and clay thickness strips are going to help our budding artists explore more avenues!
Students at my school come in everyday eager to learn and to experience school in an exciting way. As a specials teacher, I work to provide students with a day filled with opportunity and creativity. Teaching in a Title One school, my students share a variety of challenges everyday. They live in a small community of a few elementary schools that feed into a high school. My students grow up together and form a close knit society. The school I teach at is diverse in its' economic status. Students share a wealth of differences not only from their home lives, but also in their learning styles. This is where my project will come in handy!
My Project
We are loving the variety of artwork coming out of a choice based art room, but we need your help! We need supplies for clay, fiber arts, drawing and sculpting.
Having new tools for clay are going to help us as we learn and explore more about ceramics.
It will give us more opportunities to take our ceramics farther than we could have imagined. We need tools and kits to help our inspiration flow! Fiber Arts is a new area we are exploring this year and it has been a big hit! We would love the opportunity to explore more of the area of weaving and sewing; that’s where the tapestry needles and potholder looms are going to come in handy!
A light box is going to help those in the classroom that may need to trace or to practice some of our drawing skills. We also love to learn to draw new things and can’t always use the computers. The new drawing books are fun ways for us to explore animation and imaginary animals! Sculpting is also an area in our classroom. We want to explore mask making and papier-mache in our art room and the mask molds, paste and plaster cloth are going to help us with those projects!
