My Students

I am a speech pathologist at an elementary school who works with children ages Pre-K - fifth grade. My time is stretched thin as I am the only SLP at my school. The students I work with are special education students who have speech and language disorders, including autism, Down Syndrome, learning disabilities, expressive language disorders, receptive language disorders, and social communication disorders. I have a large caseload this year due to a “non-typical” year last year with masks, school dismissals, and online learning. I am working to provide all the resources these special education students need to improve their communication and progress not only in the classroom but with their social skills as well! In addition to general education students, I work with a special needs class with children with complex communication needs. I love them!

My Project

I am requesting books, flashcards, and speech therapy materials that will provide essential tools to help my students communicate! I serve students with a variety of complex communication needs - expressive and receptive language, articulation, stuttering, and social communication.

All students deserve to feel heard and I want my students to feel confident that they can communicate in ALL settings, whether at school, home, or on the playground with peers.

The materials I chose will help meet all of those communication needs - whether it be learning to articulate speech sounds, generating a complete sentence, or learning how to communicate with friends
