Creating Children's Literature

Help me give my students blank books and erasable colored pencils to create children's books for our library.

My Project

These supplies will be used to create children's literature for our community. My high school students want to create children's literature with a focus on helping lower elementary students deal with socio-emotional issues in a positive way. Most high school students have experiences to share and writing is a good, creative outlet. In addition to the catharsis of sharing their stories, students also have the added bonus of helping other children deal with tough issues.

The created books will be donated to the public library after a book fair where student authors will read their books to children.

Students can learn the process of becoming an author (we have published authors and an illustrator coming to speak!) and see a finished product that has the potential to help others who are experiencing similar situations.
