My Students

Each day my students rush into class and get straight to work on their artwork. They learn that the class is about more that just making art. It is also about learning to solve problems that have more that one solution. I try to teach my students how the arts create meaning to our lives.

My students come to me from all walks of life, and each one has a different story and different goals.

The one thing that they all have in common is the need to succeed. Our school community pushes for excellence as they strive to become the leaders of the future. Our high school students push me to teach them new processes and techniques every day.

My Project

My students need a MakerBot Academy kit and 2 copies of the book Getting Started with MakerBot. The introduction of a MakerBot in our school would allow for our students to be on the cutting edge of technology. I believe that this should be done in an art classroom to facilitate the concept that anything is possible. I want my students to see that they are the solution to the problem and that they can make anything that they can think of. My student will learn how to design three-dimensional objects on a computer and then print them using the MakerBot.

I want my students to see that their ideas are the currency in which the future will be built on.

I get excited anytime I can offer my students an opportunity to be innovators instead of consumers. Working with a MakerBot will allow my students to do all of this and more.
