Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The children I work with are very active and are constantly investigating the world around them. My students are mainly Spanish speaking, so finding ways for them to learn through exploration has become my main goal this school year. Our school is located in Oklahoma in a high poverty area. I work with an amazing group of teachers who have a passion for helping this community.
I want my Pre-K students to come home from school every day, proud of what they have learned and eager to share with their families.
I am the proud teacher of 20 rowdy four and five-years-old children.
My Project
The first time my students are getting away from home and family life is this year of Pre-K. They love to explore and make messes with whatever they play with and I want to make sure my classroom is stocked with messy things! A lot of them have never used classroom materials before or even held a paint brush. I want to be able to give them the materials they need to learn to express themselves through art.
One big issue with four year olds are their fine motor skills.
Having lots of painting materials that go beyond actual brushes will continue to build those fine motor skill which are so important in Pre-K. These stamp pads, paint rollers, apron papers, and paints will help my students express themselves through art.
