Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Several of my students are phenomenal artists but do not have a class where they can express themselves and showcase their abilities. And all of my students have to take an art class in order to graduate, however we currently do not have the supplies or someone to teach an art class. I am working with the counselor and our administration so that I would be able to offer an art class for high school and one for middle school. I am passionate about helping my students meet their potential and find their passions. Being able to provide an art class to my students would allow some of them to feel the support for their interests that they have never seen before. With just a mention of getting supplies like paint, canvases, sewing machines, and clay one of my student’s whole demeanor changed has she grew with excitement about what she might get to do. Every opportunity these kids have to do art in their core subjects brings them excitement and motivation I can only imagine how they will be when they are able to walk into a classroom filled with art supplies ready for them to use.
