My Project

Many students in our school face clothing insecurity, which can affect their confidence, attendance, and overall well-being. Our student-led clothing closet was created to ensure that every student has access to clean, appropriate clothing in a safe and respectful environment. While generous community donations have helped us begin this work, our current space lacks the organization and structure needed to operate effectively and with dignity.

To best serve students, our clothing closet must function like a real retail or nonprofit space—organized, welcoming, and student-managed.

This student-led project will enhance our school's clothing closet by creating a more organized, accessible, and respectful space for students in need. Students take ownership of planning, organizing, inventorying, and managing the closet as part of a hands-on community service initiative.

We are requesting wall dividers, clothing racks, and hangers to create defined areas, improve organization, and allow students to properly display and maintain donated clothing. These resources will help students operate the closet professionally while ensuring those receiving items feel supported and respected.

With these materials, students will:

Use wall dividers to create organized sections within the clothing closet

Arrange donated clothing by size, category, and season on clothing racks

Use hangers to keep clothing neat, clean, and presentable

Manage inventory and layout similar to a real retail or nonprofit organization

Assist peers discreetly and respectfully when selecting clothing

The closet will remain open throughout the school year to support students and families in need.
