This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
“Controlling complexity is the essence of computer programming.” - Brian Kernigan
By the end of the school year, I would like my students to have a general knowledge of computer programming.
Our school is a Title I school located in a high needs area.
Our class is comprised of general education students as well as students with Individual Education Plans. Our students are inquisitive and energetic. They are curious about the world around them and are always eager to learn new things.
My Project
Our students will learn coding by programming and building a robot using the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 kit. They will work in a team to create a robot that not only will follow directions, but carry out specific tasks. The robot has intelligent bricks which will control a different sensor, motor, or screen. Students will program the bricks to manage how the robot should move. Our students' creativity will come to light here because different robots can be built with this kit. This will provide opportunities for our students to try out new ideas, find different ways of thinking, and problem-solving.
Donations to this project will help in computer programming, student creativity, collaborative learning, and problem-solving skills.
Students will be using the LEGO Mindstorms kit to learn Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
It will change our students' lives for the better because they will create programs for their robot and bring it to life. The technology involved in this is so cool because their robot will move, respond to touch and drive.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
