My Project

My students are bright, unique learners who experience the world in powerful and sometimes overwhelming ways. Many of them are diagnosed with autism and face daily challenges with sensory processing, emotional regulation, and maintaining focus in a busy classroom environment. Loud noises, bright lights, and constant movement can quickly become overwhelming, making it difficult for them to fully engage in learning.

To support their needs, I am hoping to create a dedicated sensory corner—a safe, calming space where students can go to regulate their emotions, decompress, and return to learning ready to succeed.

This space will not be a reward or escape, but an essential tool that helps students build independence and self-regulation skills.

The sensory corner will include items such as soft seating, magic circle drawing panels, a sequin butterfly panel, a crocodile activity panel and a rainbow activity panel with 10 sensory tools. These materials are specifically chosen to help students manage sensory input, reduce anxiety, and improve focus. Having access to these supports can prevent meltdowns, increase time on task, and create a more inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Your support will directly impact my students by giving them the tools they need to feel safe, understood, and ready to learn. When students are calm and regulated, they are better able to communicate, participate, and reach their full potential.
