Creating a Safe Space: A Calming Corner for Every Student
Help me give my students a calming corner by providing comfortable bean bag seating, toys to promote social-emotional learning, and posters they can use to reference for self-regulation!
In a busy classroom, every child deserves a tranquil space to find peace and recharge. With your support, I aim to establish a calming corner, a safe space where third graders can retreat during moments of stress or overwhelm.
This space will offer sensory tools, cozy seating, and comforting resources to help children regulate emotions, build resilience, and foster a sense of belonging.
It's especially important because third grade, in Georgia, is when students begin their first experience taking an end-of-the-year summative assessment. This calming corner will greatly assist their test anxiety as they prepare for the experience of taking such a daunting exam.
By creating an inclusive and welcoming environment, we empower our students to navigate challenges with confidence, compassion, and a renewed sense of focus. Together, let's build a safe haven where every child feels valued and supported on their learning journey.
