This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have an awesome group of first graders coming to me. They are so eager to learn. They have a million questions every day and love hands-on learning. I teach at a Title 1 school and several of the students receive free and reduced lunches.
Our school has a beautiful blend of cultures and languages.
We have several families who struggle and live paycheck to paycheck. They work very hard to provide for their children. Our staff also works very hard to give the students the best possible education. We ensure not only that their academic needs are met but also strive to meet other needs as well.
My Project
The classroom and the tone you set is crucial for inspiring and promoting positive experiences in education. Children learn in many different ways. A classroom needs a number of different choices for students to learn and be immersed in the curriculum. Students learn through visual, aural, verbal or physical experiences.
I hope to create a classroom environment that offers safe, positive and motivating avenues for my students to learn.
I want to offer different centers that the students can choose from to meet their comfort level and promote their best learning. I envision flexible seating, technology and hands on materials to help with planning, problem solving and invention.
I am asking for the following to reach this goal: headphones for the technology area, different flexible seating and manipulatives that can be used in a number of projects. I am so excited to start the school year and make my classroom a safe space for learning and social emotional growth. Thanks in advance for helping me with this project. Happy New (School) Year!!
