Creating a Makers' Space Part 2

My students need 5 iPads to furnish our new Makers' Space. Two other teachers are asking for five as well. We hope to get 15 iPads to complete our project.

My Students

We are a small community of engaged students who may or may not have the opportunity to utilize technology in our homes. We are groups of English and Social Studies students who use our technology as often as the lessons permit.

We study historical novels and primary source documents.

We make beautiful art pieces and write inspiring poetry. We dig deep into our subjects and get involved! We are readers, we are writers, we are thinkers, we are doers, we study the past to make a better future!

My Project

The History Department is in the process of creating a Makers' Space for our student body. We have the use of Chromebooks and we are looking to add a set of iPads to offer a more flexible option for our creative process.

With these iPads, the students will be able to create movie projects, design interactive websites, produce multimedia timelines, and even film and edit their own commercials.

We want to provide access to project making materials for our project-based learning, and a fully functional Makers' Space will make our curriculum more accessible to all of our student population.

By being able to access technology at school, we believe we are providing more access to the 'digital age' for our students and introducing them to the high tech demands that they will encounter in the future. Our department is requesting a total of 15 iPads. My project funds the second 5 out of 15.
