Help me give my students a new classroom environment. I want to revamp my classroom rug and library seating so that my students learn in an inviting classroom that encourages them to find a cozy space to read.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten at a school in Alhambra Unified where 67% of our population is low income. My students love coming to school and are eager to learn and be a part of the school environment. My past students come back to my classroom each year noticing the things that are the same and different from their year in kindergarten.
I would love to give the gift of excitement to my incoming kindergarteners in providing a wonderful room environment that gets them even more eager to learn and grow.
A place that feels like their second home and that they see as their own special place. I want my past students to come back and see that the rug and furniture is no longer falling apart and that it has been replaced with colorful, inviting new things.
The parent volunteers always comment on how things are falling apart, they even offer to take it home to try and fix themselves. I have tried to make these items last as long as possible, but their end time is near. I hope to refurbish my classroom so that each future class has a room that draws them into their learning space.
My Project
Six years ago I started teaching kindergarten. My room is mostly linoleum flooring, with some brown carpet along the edges. I wanted to create an inviting environment for my students so I purchased a large colorful rug, and recycled pillows from my parents house and purchased bean bag chairs for them to use to be comfortable in the library.
Fast forward to my classroom today and everything is falling apart.
I have duct tape around the edges of my fraying carpet, and it has warn spots throughout it. My bean bag chairs have holes that have been taped, and the pillows have been washed so much they are getting worn.
I would love to revamp my classroom with some quality furniture that will last and make my classroom inviting to students once again. I have always purchased all these supplies with my own money, but if they were to be donated I know something more durable and lasting could be chosen.
My students love to be in the library, to get cozy and comfy with a good book and a reading buddy. They get excited at the thought of laying down on a pillow or finding a special spot with their favorite book. Please help me fulfill this need in my classroom by helping me refurnish it. Thank you!
