Creating a Collaborative & Comfortable Work Space for Project Teams
My students need an area within the classroom where they can sit in more comfortable group seating and do some brainstorming and collaborating with their project teammates.
I teach at a large urban public high school with 2100 students that come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and from across the various diverse neighborhoods of the city. They bring with them various learning styles and interests which I strive to tap into when creating my lessons for them.
Students in my Digital Media Design Academy take the program over 2 or 3 years and have a passion for creating digital art through the use of computers & various equipment.
They love using computers to bring their ideas to life!
My Project
My students work at computers all class period and they work in teams on various projects throughout the school year. I want to create a collaboration space within the classroom so students can more comfortably work with their team and have discussions about their projects in a face-to-face atmosphere.
Students learning collaboration and communication skills is key for my students' futures in the workforce and creating a comfortable space for them to do this is the goal of this project.
Each student team will have their scheduled meeting day in the couch lounge area and they will need to write up meeting minutes about what was discussed and decided at the end of meeting, which will make them more accountable for the class time they will be given for this task.
