"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." Dr. Seuss believes that children are natural scholars, and when supplied with a rich and dynamic learning environment, they are motivated to become enthusiastic and self-motivated learners.
Our campus serves over 850 students.
40% of these students come from a low-income family structure.
This environment can produce certain obstacles to education, such as an inability to meet a child's basic needs, working parents who may lack the time or resources to provide academic supports, and a whole slew of other difficulties. While these challenges exist, they do not deter our students from striving towards goals and succeeding in endeavors. Through our commitment to developing relationships, building supports, and creating a positive learning environment, I continue to see the gap lessen. Our school does everything it can to support the needs of our children both academically and socially. Our children continue to show scholarship, purpose, and grit and need a classroom that will continue to foster their growth.
My Project
The Ron Clark Academy (RCA) is a highly-acclaimed, nonprofit middle school located in Southeast Atlanta. The Academy has received both national and international recognition for its success in educating students with academic rigor, passion, and creativity balanced by a strict code of discipline. The RCA experience will give me the opportunity to witness dynamic and innovative teaching methods. I will have the opportunity to do this by observing actual classrooms and by participating in engaging workshops. This experience will teach me ways to increase student engagement in my classroom, increase the academic rigor, and create a climate and culture in my class that leads to every child being successful.
This workshop will benefit my students by increasing the level of rigor in our classroom giving them an environment of higher learning, it will also cut down on classroom distractions because this workshop will teach me better ways to keep the students engaged during the lesson.
This workshop will give me the much needed tools to create a classroom where all students can be successful.
