The Ron Clark Academy (RCA) is a highly-acclaimed, nonprofit middle school located in Southeast Atlanta. The Academy has received both national and international recognition for its success in educating students with academic rigor, passion, and creativity balanced by a strict code of discipline. The RCA experience will give me the opportunity to witness dynamic and innovative teaching methods. I will have the opportunity to do this by observing actual classrooms and by participating in engaging workshops. This experience will teach me ways to increase student engagement in my classroom, increase the academic rigor, and create a climate and culture in my class that leads to every child being successful. This workshop will benefit my students by increasing the level of rigor in our classroom giving them an environment of higher learning, it will also cut down on classroom distractions because this workshop will teach me better ways to keep the students engaged during the lesson. This workshop will give me the much needed tools to create a classroom where all students can be successful.
