My Students

My students have become my family. This is my second year teaching, and I have very little resources. I have worked hard to provide the students with necessary supplies. My students come from low income families, but they come to school everyday ready to learn. We have worked hard to build a classroom community that is loving and supportive of each other and is focused on learning. We integrate science, technology, engineering, and math into the core subject areas of math, reading, and writing.

My Project

My students carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. Even though, they are only 9 and 10, they have lots of envorimental stressers that create anxiety. The anxiety and stress prevents them from being able to focus on being a learner in the classroom. Weighted blankets and vests help reduce that anxiety and stress. The weighted blankets and vests put pressure on tightened nerves caused by stress. The weight reduces the pressure on the nerves and helps promote calmness. When anxiety and stress is reduced, students are more able to focus and learn. This allows students to feel safe and be ready to learn.
