My Students
My students are amazing. They come to school prepared to learn and try their best to achieve our high expectations everyday.
Our school is located in a low-income area with most students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.
Most of my students have limited resources outside of school, so school may provide their only chance to experience enriching activities. My goal every year, is to create an environment that is warm, safe, and welcoming while maintaining a fun, creative learning atmosphere.
My Project
Education has shifted in a way that art is almost completely left out of our school day. I have always vowed to never let that happen. My class loves art. Anything that lets the creative juices flow gets their complete attention. I feel that by offering students the opportunity to freely think and create, they will increase skills in originality and innovation. This year, I would love to expose my class to the art of making t-shirts. If granted the opportunity a heat press, tee shirts, Teflon sheets, and heat transfer vinyl will make a huge impact in developing these skills and also bring their ideas to life. Because the cost is so high, it has been very difficult for us to complete a project like this. It's a financial burden for myself and parents.
This project will allow my students to express themselves creatively and build class unity.
Being able to make class shirts will help keep art in the classroom and create wearable art that they can share with our school and the community.
