Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Creating a culture of writers is hard to do along with teaching a specific subject. "Allied with Green" is one of our stories based on state standards that promote "Green" climate and environment; thus, creating a classroom 'climate' with materials have been proven to help students feel more comfortable and engaged in instructional learning. Enhancing academic vocabulary words by using the sentence strips will be created in an area, while students work on the new carpet with the arm rest chairs creating their essays to the prompts to "Allied with Green" focus text. The lighting ensures that there is no glare from direct sunlight and allows students to work in a calm and peaceful environment while learning how to be "green". Peppermints are brain boosters to encourage thinking and energize our students. The monkey cut outs will have each student's name for each paper posted upon completion of each essay.
Goals: The student will learn how the character in the story grew up in NYC was able to maintain her philosophy of promoting a green life and apply this to the writing prompt: How can this lifestyle be applicable to your own life?
My students are special because they are our students and we all are responsible for their learning. I have not met a student yet who didn't want to learn. They love being in environments that are clean, inviting, and safe. All children deserve to feel safe, respected, and encouraged to learn in a wonderful climate.
