Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 4th graders can't wait to unleash their creativity and get in touch with their inner artist! Problem. There is a limited amount of art supplies and audiovisual equipment in our class "art studio." Solution. Your generosity will rescue fledgling artists bound to launch out of their nests!
The students in my urban school daily strive to make a difference in their surrounding community by surmounting every obstacle to not only stay in school, but to strive to go all the way to college, vocational, or even art school!
They emerge from the shadows that sometimes come with living in a low income, Latino neighborhood. The budgetary restrictions placed on art supplies and instructors at our Title 1, 600 pupil school do not dampen their creative spirits!
My Project
My warm-hearted students long to use the proper art materials to continue learning about the elements of art, and I would be thrilled to design creative projects across curricular areas with these materials. With the audiovisual equipment, they can have a greater understanding of the skills and techniques that will sharpen their critical thinking skills as well as amplifying their perspective. Engaging in these activities can ignite their creative spirits!
With these materials, my students' creative thinking and talent will not only expand, but it will also impact the way they currently perceive the society as a whole.
The Social Science craft kit to make burlap and leather pouches used by Native Americans, audiovisual equipment to connect what I write/draw on a notepad to our projector, and a plethora of art materials will enable students who need the added scaffold to develop their artistic nature.
