My Students

I teach 4th grade students who are creative, curious, and hard-working. They are proactive learners who love to collaborate.

They are highly engaged in classroom activities where they are working cooperatively in pairs or groups.

My students are problem solvers who learn and grow from their mistakes.

My Project

These markerboard activity tables will be used to help all students continue their social-emotional and academic learning in light of COVID-19 by fostering a collaborative community that will enhance student learning.

Collaboration in the classroom facilitates active learning by promoting social interaction as students share knowledge and learn from one another.

Providing feedback is an important skill. The ability to give meaningful feedback to our peers is even more powerful. Having these activity tables in our classroom would allow students to view each other’s projects then give feedback by leaving comments directly on the tables. These markerboards will allow students to easily correct mistakes and overcome misconceptions.

These tables can be used in all subject areas. For example, during a class read aloud, students sitting at the collaborative whiteboard tables could illustrate the story as we read. Also, during class debates, students could use the table to organize their thoughts and brainstorm ideas to support their opinions. Math class could involve students setting up a problem and allowing a classmate to solve it. A protocol like “two positive comments and one piece of advice to make a good idea better” can be an effective tool for supporting students as they work on giving constructive comments. All students will benefit from having these tables in our classroom.
