My Students

I teach second grade to a wonderful group of 20 boys and girls. I teach an inclusion class with a wide variety of abilities and diverse learning styles. Our school is part of an extremely impoverished district, and as teachers we are doing everything we can to help bring resources into the classroom for our students.

They love learning and are full of questions. Each day they come in smiling and ready to learn, and excited about acquiring knowledge and skills. Daily they strive to do their best work, despite the challenges many of them encounter. Our school is in a wonderful community that supports education, however there is a lot of poverty. All of the students in our school have a free breakfast and lunch. Having the ability to research answers to their own questions and document their learning digitally is a powerful tool. My students know that education is the key to working to have a successful future.

My Project

Having computers in the classroom will give my students the opportunity to use technology that most of the world uses on a daily basis. My students will be able to enrich their learning and review skills they have not yet mastered.

I have tons of ideas to use the Chromebooks.

We will work using Google Classroom, Slides, Maps and Drive. This will allow me to better individualize for all of my students: from Special Education and AIS students to average to the above average students. I will create common core lessons in math and science.

The Chromebooks will allow me to use other sites to supplement lessons, add videos and other materials to engage different learning styles. These Chromebooks will also be used to enhance small group instruction. We will use these tools throughout the day and rotate between both special education students and regular general education students in our classroom.
