My Students

My students come from low income urban area. I work in a district that is undergoing a lot of changes, with under preforming. It is also going through tight budget cuts in last few years. We as educators do not always get to order what we feel we need to make our classroom complete. These students come to school wanting to learn, and looking for a safe place to do that. My goal as a reading specialist is to give them that support and safe place to learn and grow.

My Project

These two chrome books will be a valuable resource to me as a reading specialist. So much of our work, testing, progress monitoring and writing is on the computers now. I will be able to pull students to my classroom and read with them for their progress monitoring or testing in a quiet place outside of the computer lab. This will allow those students who struggle to focus in a loud classroom or lab a chance to focus and work to the best of their abilities.

My students also do a lot of work on writing, editing and then typing their work in preparation for their testing.

Having these chrome books would allow me to do this with my students in our classroom.
