This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students thrive on using technology as a learning tool. In my kindergarten class, there is a huge level of energy and enthusiasm to be part of the digital world. I have 19 Kindergartners. They are passionate about technology. In our school, digital devices are limited and scarce for Kindergartners. Many of my students come from poverty and high crime areas. They qualify for the Title 1 Program.
My kindergarten class gives students an opportunity to grow, learn and explore the world through technology .
The students are excited about going on a new learning adventure each and everyday. We spend the year exploring new foundation skills and concepts in all the subjects.
My Project
Having these two Chromebooks would allow my students an opportunity to access E-books and interactive reading and math games on a daily basis. E-books are tools that can enhance student learning. These E-books can boost development of language and early literacy skills.
Using E-books and interactive games in kindergarten can be a powerful tool for differentiating my students' learning.
My students will be able to improve their reading comprehension, phonemic awareness and listening skills. These E-books make it possible for my students to "read" and or listen to the books independently without my teacher support. There are an abundance of E-books available on the internet today such as Raz-kids, Tumblebooks, and Tales2go. Our school system provides us with many E-books apps for the students to utilize.
When using interactive math and reading games, the students will enjoy playing games while strengthening math, reading, writing, and critical-thinking skills. My students will be able to use web based sites available on the internet such as Education.com, Gamequarium.com, FunBrain and Interactivesites.weebly.com.
My ultimate goal is to turn my classroom into a complete digital learning community!
