Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative and fun-loving four- and five-year-olds. For most of my Transitional Kindergarteners, this is the first school experience. The growth academically, socially, and emotionally that takes place by the end of the year in each child is amazing! They develop a sense of community and a love for learning. Our school is located in a high poverty area where all children are in a free lunch program.
My students and their parents depend on my guidance to find meaningful fine motor learning activities to access at home after our virtual class.
Despite the hardships my students are facing with school being closed, they are eager learners.
My Project
I recently purchased a Cricut machine as well as vinyl paper for classroom projects. During winter, my students created winter crafts using vinyl stickers and craft paper. We quickly ran out of the craft paper and transfer tape to continue spring projects. I would like to provide my new students with print-rich walls and enough craft paper to continue creating craft stickers for engaging projects at home during distance learning. Four and five-year-olds really enjoy creating artwork and using alphabet stickers to write their names. I would love to provide a fun and creative learning experience tailor-made to meet their needs and our educational goals.
My students need craft paper to help them achieve their artistic aspirations for letter making, card making, crafts, and projects in class and at home.
During these art projects, children are able to show their creativity while acquiring oral language and literacy. I would like to continue to foster their visual arts learning. Thank you for considering our project.
