Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Join us in fostering creativity and cultural connection with our basket weaving and musical shakers project for middle schoolers! By donating, you'll provide students with the materials needed to explore the rich intersection of math, art, and cultural traditions.

The specific items we're requesting will enable students to learn math concepts through pattern creation and measurement while expressing themselves artistically through intricate designs and craftsmanship.

This hands-on approach offers a unique learning experience that bridges artistic creativity with mathematical understanding.

Our goals for this project are threefold:

1. Incorporate traditions from various diaspora, enriching students' cultural awareness and appreciation.

2. Pass on traditional crafting skills, preserving heritage and promoting intergenerational learning.

3. Create beautifully crafted items, such as baskets and musical seed-filled shakers, for school fundraisers, empowering students to contribute to their community while honing their crafting skills.

What makes our students truly special is their eagerness to learn, their creativity, and their respect for diverse cultures. With your support, we can continue to nurture these qualities, providing them with opportunities to explore, learn, and grow through art and tradition.
